Confidentiality

All of your information will be kept confidential and secure. As a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, I must act in the best interest of client's and the public, therefore I am duty bound to break confidentiality in certain circumstances. If I have any immediate concerns about your safety, or the safety of any one else, then I would have to contact other external professionals and agencies in order to ensure your safety or the safety of others around you. If I do need to break confidentiality, I would make every effort to discuss this with you first and explain why.

I would normally ask for your GP contact details if starting therapy and would only contact them with your permission. The only exception to this would be if I had any immediate concerns about your safety, in which case I would have to break confidentiality and contact your GP to highlight my concerns.

Part of being a BABCP accredited CBT Therapist also requires me to discuss cases on a regular basis with a clinical supervisor to ensure I am delivering the highest quality of evidence based treatment. Supervision is usually undertaken by an experienced CBT therapist who is also accredited by the BABCP and bound by the same limits of confidentiality.

If you would like any further information about information storage and confidentiality, please do not hesitate to contact me for more details.
